As part of this mission, we are seeking a Deputy Attorney General (DAG) for our Environmental Unit. This role is crucial in addressing a wide array of legal matters related to environmental protection and regulatory compliance.

Position Summary

The selected DAG will provide comprehensive legal guidance to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), which encompasses various divisions such as Waste Management, Wildlife Conservation, and Climate Policy. The DAG will engage in the enforcement of environmental statutes and handle permit infringements through both administrative procedures and litigation.

Career Advancement

The career trajectory for the Deputy Attorney General position is structured based on professional experience, competencies, and years of bar admission. The salary ranges are as follows:
  • DAG II: $87,822 - $92,106
  • DAG III: $96,997 - $99,129
  • DAG IV: $106,626 - $108,737
  • DAG V: $118,238 - $122,920

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
  • Proven experience in litigation and administrative law, particularly in regulatory contexts.
  • Knowledge of natural resources law and environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The DAG will be an integral part of the Environmental Unit, representing DNREC in various legal matters. Responsibilities include:
  • Defending DNREC in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
  • Reviewing legal documents, permits, and contracts.
  • Advising on legislative and regulatory matters, including human resources and risk management.
  • Enforcing compliance with environmental laws and addressing permit violations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Delaware Bar.
