Work Schedule: Part-Time/Day

Hours: 20 hours/week, 7 am – 12 pm, 4 days per week, primarily weekdays.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist employs the nutrition care process to evaluate, assess, diagnose, and implement nutrition interventions, while monitoring the nutritional status and progress of patients. This role adheres to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care and Standards of Professional Performance for registered dietitians. The specialist actively engages in exceptional customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

Key Contributions to the Team:

  • Assessment: Conducts nutrition-focused physical assessments, gathers measurements, reviews medical histories, collects data through interviews, utilizes validated assessment tools, evaluates anthropometric data, and calculates comparative standards.
  • Diagnosis: Analyzes assessment data to identify nutrition-related risks, problems, and high-risk health behaviors.
  • Intervention: Provides nutrition recommendations, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to additional services as needed.
  • Education and Counseling: Delivers counseling and educational resources that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity for patients requiring nutritional management.
  • Monitoring: Offers follow-up to track progress, adjusting nutrition care plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Leadership: Facilitates supervised practice experiences for dietetic interns and new hires, ensuring alignment with learning objectives. Stays updated on emerging research and evidence-based guidelines, and participates in research and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Essential Expertise and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration certification
  • Active registered dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Current active licensure in the state of practice
