Position Summary

The Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the effective initiation of new operations. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating both internal and external processes within the manufacturing facility.

In the foundational phase of the company's establishment, the focus on Material Management will be instrumental in the development of MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain LLC. Various operational standards and systems will be refined and updated for upcoming projects. Once established, Material Management will ensure the timely availability of materials at optimal cost and quality. This function will be essential in collaborating with various departments and teams, managing resources, and keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the material management lifecycle.

MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain LLC (MNAe) is a premier Tier 1 supplier of Battery System Assembly (BSA) and Power Electronics (PE) systems, which are critical components in the production of electric vehicles, utilizing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies related to battery system assembly.

Key Responsibilities (The successful candidate must effectively perform each essential duty. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.)

Logistics Planning

  • Develop, assess, and enhance internal and external material flow methodologies.
  • Analyze and strategize workforce utilization, floor space, and material movement.
  • Design the layout of equipment and workspaces for operators.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to engineer and develop material handling equipment, storage solutions, and packaging, while evaluating/testing products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct time study analyses through simulations of material flow throughout the facility.
  • Calculate staffing needs and manage returnable packaging fleets.
  • Engage with management and other personnel regarding material processes to enhance overall plant efficiency.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the supply chain to uncover potential savings in areas such as transportation, inventory, personnel, and internal flow, providing a comprehensive business case.
  • Perform additional and/or special assignments as directed.

Basic Qualifications (The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required and preferred for this position.)

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience in continuous improvement initiatives and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • 2-4 years of experience in shop floor capacity planning utilizing time study analysis techniques.
  • 2-4 years of experience in floor space analysis; AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in problem-solving and analysis using various methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis tools like 8D's and Ishikawa/Fishbone diagrams.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a Just-In-Time (JIT) assembly environment.
  • Experience in automotive parts assembly is preferred, with 2-4 years in assembling modular component systems.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Technical expertise in designing and optimizing material flow processes.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management principles and experience with methodologies such as FIFO and Kanban systems.

Working Conditions: Office environment with some walking and standing required within and between buildings.

Travel Requirement: Domestic and international travel may be necessary.
