Overview: The Regional Operations Leader for Commercial Lines is accountable for overseeing the operational functions within the designated region to drive profitability and uphold the standards of sales, service, and professionalism as outlined by USI's Best Practices, Core Values, and Risk Management Quality Control standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the recruitment, training, and development of operational personnel as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Property & Liability team to monitor account retention on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with retention objectives and achieving agency targets for retained business through proactive strategies.
  • Guide departments in the formulation and successful attainment of both individual and departmental objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to the Region and Operating Companies regarding operational performance and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Work alongside the Property & Liability team to promote account rounding and identify cross-sell/referral opportunities.
  • Partner with Team Leaders and local management to conduct effective performance evaluations and assist in establishing measurable goals.
  • Collaborate with Operating Company Leaders to pinpoint areas for enhancement, create efficiencies, and boost profit margins.
  • Manage staff in alignment with USI metrics and operational frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the President and Chief Financial Officer to prepare revenue and expense budgets, monitoring adherence to profit and growth targets set by management.
  • Oversee the Stewardship initiative, including client meetings, peer reviews, and monthly reporting.
  • Supervise regional initiatives such as Carrier/Wholesaler book consolidations and the Small Business Hub.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with Commercial Lines Operations Leaders to relay information on new and ongoing initiatives to staff.
  • Manage the operational integration of new acquisitions within the region.
  • Provide technical guidance in coordinating the internal servicing of new and existing clients through sales, account development, and problem resolution in accordance with USI's Core Values and Standards.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the USI ONE Advantage and Stewardship processes.
  • Ensure quality control of renewal expirations to prevent any lapse in coverage, ensuring timely handling of renewals by team members.
  • Generate and review various monthly reports to confirm all policies are renewed punctually, invoicing aligns with Best Practices, and assess team members' workloads and backlog.
  • Monitor compliance with service standards through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
  • Identify, plan, and address routine departmental coverage and workload challenges, taking necessary actions to resolve issues.
  • Develop effective communication strategies across departments, fostering teamwork and a sales-oriented culture.
  • Oversee employee management through performance reviews, improvement plans, and coordination of staffing coverage, along with time and attendance records and expense report approvals.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance sector, with a thorough understanding of all relevant coverages, underwriting, and rating concepts.
  • High School diploma required; a college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous managerial experience is essential, with a proven ability to effectively lead others.
  • In-depth knowledge of agency management systems, workflow procedures, underwriting, sales, and service processes.
  • Must possess a state Property & Casualty insurance license or be willing to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.
  • Hold an industry designation such as ARM, CIC, or CPCU, or be committed to pursuing further industry knowledge through relevant courses.
  • Ability to instruct staff on job-related information effectively.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution and managing challenging behaviors in a timely manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Capable of executing complex tasks involving various concrete and abstract variables.
  • Comfortable with internet-based applications and proficient in Microsoft Office products; familiarity with Sagitta/ImageRight is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Skillful in prioritizing and managing workflow to ensure efficient and timely processing of transactions and responsibilities.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, colleagues, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts, demonstrating teamwork.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new products, legislation, and technology to enhance knowledge and performance.
  • Effectively communicate and cooperate with others to achieve the company's business objectives.
