Regional Operations Leader for Commercial Lines

- Engage in the recruitment, training, and development of operational personnel as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Property & Liability teams to monitor account retention monthly, ensuring alignment with retention objectives and achieving agency targets for retained business through proactive strategies.
- Guide departments in the formulation and successful achievement of both individual and departmental objectives.
- Provide regular operational performance updates to the Region and Operating Companies, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Encourage account rounding and cross-selling/referral opportunities in collaboration with Property & Liability teams.
- Work alongside Team Leaders and local managers to conduct effective performance evaluations and assist in establishing measurable objectives.
- Partner with Operating Company Leaders to identify improvement areas, enhance efficiencies, and boost profit margins.
- Manage staff performance in accordance with USI metrics and strategic frameworks.
- Collaborate with the President and Chief Financial Officer to prepare revenue and expense budgets, monitoring compliance with profit and growth targets set by management.
- Oversee the Stewardship initiative, including client meetings, peer reviews, and monthly reporting.
- Supervise regional initiatives such as Carrier/Wholesaler book consolidations and the Small Business Hub.
- Participate in regularly scheduled Commercial Lines Operations Leaders meetings, disseminating information on new and ongoing initiatives to staff.
- Manage the operational integration of new acquisitions within the region.
- Provide technical guidance in coordinating the internal servicing of new and existing clients through sales, account development, and problem resolution in line with USI's Core Values and Standards.
- Demonstrate expertise in the USI ONE Advantage and Stewardship processes.
- Ensure quality control of renewal expirations, preventing any lapses in coverage, and guarantee timely renewal handling by team members.
- Generate and review various monthly reports to confirm timely policy renewals and compliance with Best Practices regarding invoicing, while assessing team members' workloads and open items.
- Monitor adherence to service standards through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
- Identify, plan, and address routine departmental coverage and workload challenges, taking necessary actions to resolve issues.
- Develop effective interdepartmental communication strategies, fostering teamwork and a sales-oriented culture within the department.
- Manage employee performance through evaluations, improvement plans, staffing coverage, attendance records, and expense report approvals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance Agency, with a thorough understanding of all Property & Casualty insurance coverages, underwriting, and rating principles.
- High School diploma required; a college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior management experience is essential, with a proven ability to effectively lead others.
- Comprehensive knowledge of agency management system functionalities, workflow processes, underwriting, sales, and service operations.
- Must possess a state Property & Casualty insurance license or be willing to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.
- Hold an industry designation such as ARM, CIC, or CPCU, or be committed to furthering industry knowledge through relevant courses with the intent to pursue such designations.
- Ability to instruct staff on job-related information effectively.
- Capable of managing difficult behaviors and conflicts, resolving them promptly.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and creative approach.
- Ability to execute complex tasks involving numerous concrete and abstract variables.
- Proficient in internet-based applications and Microsoft Office products; familiarity with Sagitta/ImageRight is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage workflow, ensuring efficient and timely processing of transactions and responsibilities.
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, colleagues, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts, demonstrating teamwork capabilities.
- Stay informed about industry developments, new products, legislation, coverage options, and technology to enhance knowledge and performance.
- Communicate effectively with others, providing information and guidance as needed to achieve the company's business objectives.
