The Housing Services Associate will collaborate with the Housing Coordinator to secure and prepare initial accommodations for newly arrived refugees while providing essential client services related to housing and community integration.Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate reasonable accommodations to support individuals with disabilities in fulfilling essential job functions.
  • Prepare for arrivals by setting up apartments, moving furniture, and acquiring necessary items and basic food supplies in accordance with established agreements.
  • Assist in arranging temporary housing placements in partnership with local networks.
  • Operate the organization's moving truck to transport furniture and donations for client relocations.
  • Work with the Donations Specialist to manage and distribute donated household items to newly arrived refugees.
  • Oversee utility setup and guide clients on monitoring and paying utility bills.
  • Conduct housing orientations for newly arrived refugees.
  • In collaboration with the Community Engagement team, coordinate volunteers and interns to assist with apartment setups.
  • Support transitions from temporary to permanent housing.
  • File necessary change of address forms for new arrivals and after relocations.
  • Communicate with U.S. contacts of incoming refugees to coordinate arrival details.
  • Provide transportation training to new arrivals and assist with necessary appointments and public services.
  • Document participant services and activities accurately and promptly in line with program requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in state and organizational databases by updating refugee information and uploading required documents.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual candidates preferred: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Swahili, Tigrinya, or Urdu.
  • Comfortable with technology and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Google Suite and CRM systems is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dynamic, passionate, and adaptable.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Associate Degree in relevant fields such as Social Work, Public Health, or a related area; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; willingness to drive the organization's moving truck.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional early mornings, late evenings, or weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands of this role include the ability to visit various locations, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift light to medium weights (10-15 pounds). Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity are necessary for operating equipment and performing tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position typically operates in a general office setting, with opportunities for hybrid and remote work arrangements for certain roles. The job may involve extended periods of computer use, reading from screens, and participation in virtual meetings. All duties are essential functions subject to reasonable accommodation.
