The Housing Services Associate will collaborate with the Housing Coordinator to secure and prepare initial accommodations for newly arrived refugees, while also providing direct client services related to housing and community integration.Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Prepare for arrivals by setting up apartments, moving furniture, and purchasing essential items and food supplies in accordance with the R&P Cooperative agreement.
  • Assist in temporary housing placements in partnership with the Welcome House network and Airbnb.
  • Operate the WR Durham moving truck to transport furniture and donations for client relocations.
  • Work with the Donations Specialist to organize and distribute donated household items to newly arrived refugees.
  • Manage utility setups and instruct clients on monitoring and paying utilities.
  • Conduct housing orientations for newly arrived refugees.
  • Coordinate with the Community Engagement team to enlist volunteers and interns for apartment setups.
  • Assist with transitions from temporary to permanent housing.
  • File AR-11 change of address forms for new arrivals and post-move.
  • Communicate with U.S. ties of incoming refugees to coordinate arrival details.
  • Provide transportation and bus training to new arrivals for essential appointments and public services.
  • Document participant services and activities thoroughly and promptly in line with program and World Relief requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records in state and WR databases by updating refugee information and uploading necessary documents.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual candidates preferred: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Swahili, Tigrinya, or Urdu.
  • Comfortable with technology and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with Google Suite products and CRM systems is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dynamic, passionate, and adaptable.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Associate Degree in relevant fields such as Social Work, Public Health, or a related discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle; willingness to drive the WR Durham box truck.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional early mornings, late evenings, or weekends.
