Durham, North Carolina, United States World Relief Full time
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to fostering enduring change both in the U.S. and worldwide. We strive to provide sustainable solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges, including disasters, extreme poverty, violence, oppression, and mass displacement. With a legacy spanning approximately 75 years, we have made a significant impact in over 100 countries since our inception.

In the United States, we collaborate with local churches, community organizations, and thousands of dedicated volunteers to assist newly arrived refugee and immigrant families. Currently, we proudly partner with over 6,000 local churches and 95,000 volunteers globally to bring hope, healing, and transformation to those in need.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you a compassionate individual? An advocate for justice? A voice for the marginalized and those in need? Do you believe in the Christian mission to welcome and support the vulnerable?

If you resonate with these values, World Relief is seeking a Senior Employment Specialist to oversee job placement services for newly arrived and ORR eligible refugees in the Triangle region of North Carolina, specifically through the Matching Grant (MG) and Refugee Support Services (RSS) programs. The Senior Specialist will develop and maintain partnerships with employers, facilitate job placements for refugees, and provide essential post-placement support. Additionally, this role involves supervising two Employment Coordinators to ensure the delivery of high-quality job placement services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure reasonable accommodations are provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Supervise team members, which includes monitoring daily activities, approving timesheets, and conducting performance evaluations. As a manager, you will also serve as a spiritual leader, fostering a Christian environment through prayer and devotionals.
  • Engage in proactive job development outreach to local employers to create employment opportunities for refugees.
  • Assist refugees enrolled in WRD's RSS and MG programs in preparing for employment through personalized coaching and Job Readiness training.
  • Facilitate appropriate job placements for refugees enrolled in RSS or MG.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement tailored employment service plans.
  • Conduct follow-ups with clients and employers post-placement to address concerns and ensure sustained employment.
  • Maintain accurate records of services and client data, including notes and database entries.
  • Provide structured coaching to job seekers who require assistance in meeting program requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Leadership and Oversight:
  • Deliver ongoing training and supervision to Employment Coordinators.
  • Oversee case distribution among the job development team.
  • Monitor performance outputs and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data entry and record-keeping.
  • Evaluate job placements to confirm their suitability and potential for self-sufficiency.
  • Reassign clients back to Employment Coordinators when initial placements do not support self-sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Employment Manager to continuously evaluate and improve program processes.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural fluency.
  • Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication skills; bilingualism in a language relevant to WRD's service population is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally and flexibly.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to enhance office functions independently.
Requirements:
  • A mature and personal Christian faith.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
  • Desire to empower the Church to positively impact vulnerable communities.
  • Ability to affirm World Relief's Core Beliefs and Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in employment services.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to transport clients as needed.
  • Experience in refugee employment services.
  • Strong administrative and communication skills.
