Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Family Services Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing professional, intensive, and specialized continuing case management services to families and children in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete Child Protective Services (CPS) family assessments and investigations, including case documentation in the child welfare database OASIS using COMPASS and eScribers.
  • Coordinate and participate in Family Partnership Meetings, and participate in court proceedings through filing affidavits, petitions, and court reports.
  • Transfer cases for ongoing services, conduct trauma screenings and CANS assessments, and participate in unit, division, agency, and community meetings.
  • Provide coverage for child welfare on-call (CPS, preservation, prevention, and foster care) and participate in shelter team operations as designated by the Emergency Operations Center.
Requirements
  • Four (4) year baccalaureate degree in a relevant social science field and three (3) years of relevant social work experience.
  • Valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations.
  • Successful completion of all training requirements established pursuant to the VA 63.2-208. Standards for personnel.
  • A Central registry check and criminal history record check and fingerprinting are conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment.
