Position Overview

This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Collaborating closely with the CEO and the Accounting Team, the HR Operations Specialist will assist the organization in various human resources functions, including talent acquisition, candidate evaluation, employment verification, onboarding of new hires, benefits administration, employee wellness programs, and the enforcement of organizational policies and practices.

The HR Operations Specialist will serve as a key liaison to cultivate relationships and work alongside Big Brothers Big Sisters leadership and staff to enhance strategic initiatives, coaching, development, engagement, and retention efforts.



Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors, tracks, and documents adherence to both mandatory and optional training, ongoing education, and work assessments.
  • Facilitates recruitment processes, including initial screenings, interview coordination, and onboarding paperwork for qualified candidates; partners with department managers to identify necessary skills and competencies for open roles.
  • Conducts or obtains background checks and verifies employee eligibility.
  • Provides insights into new employee orientation and recognition initiatives.
  • Executes routine tasks essential for human resource programs, encompassing compensation, benefits, leave management, performance and talent development, and employee recognition.
  • Addresses employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, directing complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Develops knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, along with recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Stays informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Engages in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in human resource management is preferred.
