Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated professional to fill the role of Deputy Chief Information Security Officer. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing the information security operations within the Investments sector, ensuring that security protocols align with organizational policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer will:

  • Oversee the enterprise information technology security framework and operational activities.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of security principles and technologies to guide and mentor staff in completing complex assignments.
  • Provide high-level technical support and direction to security personnel.
  • Collaborate with the CISO and other technology leaders on project management, change management, and technology integration.
  • Ensure that all security measures are effectively implemented to safeguard sensitive data and systems.
  • Establish and manage counterintelligence operations in partnership with local, state, and federal entities.
  • Coordinate with the Information Security Officer (ISO) to maintain compliance with established standards.
  • Manage vendor contracts and ensure adherence to procurement policies.
  • Engage with the agency's cyber fraud prevention initiatives.
  • Lead efforts in business continuity planning and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor advancements in security technologies and respond to emerging threats.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Support the development of security awareness programs and training initiatives.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in information technology security, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security tools and techniques.
  • Experience with various security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and cloud computing.
