Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily operates during day shifts as dictated by departmental needs, with on-call duties as necessary.
- Assists Interventional Radiologists in executing daily procedures and carries out physician directives.
- Conducts nursing assessments at the time of procedures or within one week of initiation, including thorough medication reconciliation.
- Gathers medical histories, evaluates patients for specific needs (such as skin reactions, contrast reactions, vital signs, dietary requirements, and other considerations), and formulates appropriate care and recovery plans. Utilizes clinical judgment to implement emergency interventions and actions to ensure patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Educates patients, their families, and healthcare providers regarding procedures, treatments, potential side effects, and symptom management strategies.
- Delivers direct patient care as required: adjusts and activates medical equipment, connects patients to monitoring devices as necessary, oversees IVs and other equipment for both outpatients and inpatients, conducts safety assessments, administers medications as prescribed by physicians, and assists with all aspects of nursing care.
- Records all assessments and clinical care provided, referrals for services, communications with other departments or physician offices, and medication administration in the medical record. Aids patients with medical leave requirements and related documentation.
- Maintains effective communication with other disciplines, including nutritional support, speech therapy, social work, navigators, social services, inpatient staff, and office personnel.
- Exhibits a positive professional demeanor by demonstrating excellent patient experience skills, effective communication, and professional conduct and appearance.
- Supports Radiologists, Front Desk Staff, and Radiologic Technologists with scheduling and workflow management to guarantee patient safety and efficient operations. Provides nursing support across all areas of the Imaging Department as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all responsibilities associated with the position, including the management of supplies in examination rooms and equipment.
- Completes all compliance-related duties pertinent to the role.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Required: Associate Degree or higher; a minimum of three years of experience; current Registered Nurse License; CPR certification.
Preferred: Experience in an Interventional Radiology or Catheterization Lab setting.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Requires significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
Occupational: Some occupational risks involved.
Physical Effort: Very heavy physical effort may be required, including the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
