We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team in the logistics sector. This is a full-time, permanent role that presents a unique opportunity to play a vital part in our company's financial success. The ideal candidate will oversee the accounting functions of the organization, which includes generating regular financial reports, maintaining accurate accounting records, and establishing a robust system of controls and budgets aimed at minimizing risk, improving the accuracy of financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the accounting department's operations, including structuring the team to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Generate financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and reports required by regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and oversee internal controls.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal budgetary reporting standards.
  • Manage the preparation of the organization's budget and financial forecasts. Implement and monitor financial control systems and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Engage in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior leadership.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable department to ensure accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable components.
  • Coordinate the accounts payable department's activities to ensure timely payment of all invoices.
  • Monitor banking transactions and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax return preparations.
  • Develop and implement effective internal controls and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the logistics team to ensure precise financial reporting.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a senior capacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end closing processes, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Solid knowledge of cost accounting and experience in the manufacturing sector is preferred.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains software is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data and compile detailed reports.
  • Proven expertise in financial forecasting and analysis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
  • Well-versed in current financial topics, accounting, tax regulations, money markets, and business environments.
