The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated and innovative team member to take on the role of Research Analyst for Community Safety Initiatives. This full-time position involves conducting data analysis, assessing trends related to violent crime, and identifying effective strategies for crime prevention and intervention. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing reports and presentations that detail research findings, facilitating data sharing among relevant stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the establishment of a centralized resource for data on community violence and prevention efforts.
  • Oversee the management of statewide data related to violence intervention and prevention, ensuring high standards for data acquisition and management.
  • Analyze trends in firearms and domestic violence, presenting findings to community groups and officials.
  • Facilitate collaboration and data sharing among various state and local agencies, including health departments and law enforcement.
  • Conduct evaluations of funded projects and assess the effectiveness of violence prevention programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in conducting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in evaluating existing research and conducting literature reviews.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets and databases, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice or victim services programs.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify trends and inform policy decisions.

Additional Considerations:

Experience in juvenile justice or victim services, as well as familiarity with relevant intervention and prevention policies, is preferred.

Special Instructions:

Selected candidates will be required to complete a background investigation and submit necessary employment verification documentation. The anticipated starting salary range is $70,000 to $82,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
