Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking motivated and skilled research project coordinators to support various initiatives within the Department of Surgery. The successful candidates will collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and research personnel to facilitate projects focused on understanding and mitigating violence, particularly among youth with externalizing disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

Research Assistance
- Aid in the execution of research protocols.
- Gather data through surveys, focus groups, and semi-structured interviews.
- Conduct literature reviews on topics pertinent to violence prevention and developmental psychopathology.
- Perform data entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis utilizing statistical software.
- Coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders involved in research initiatives to arrange intervention implementation.
- Implement virtual reality methodologies in research assessment and intervention.

Administrative Duties
- Schedule and oversee participant appointments.
- Assist in preparing grant applications and project reports.
- Organize and maintain databases, research files, and related materials.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols.

Communication Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Develop materials for presentations at academic conferences.
- Engage with community partners and organizations involved in research projects.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Science, or a related discipline Prior research experience, especially in violence prevention or a related area, is highly preferred Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team Demonstrated experience in fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a staff member. Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Institutional Review Board (IRB) procedures and ethical guidelines for human subjects research Publications or presentations in violence prevention and/or externalizing disorders (conduct disorder, callous-unemotional traits) Interest or experience in virtual reality applications Interest or experience in psychophysiology Graduate degree in psychology or a related field Additional Information:

This position is classified as a restricted role with no predetermined end date, and continued employment is contingent upon project needs, funding availability, and performance.
