About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Analyst to join our team at the Office of Safer Communities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing data, identifying trends, and developing strategies to prevent and reduce violent crime in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze data and identify trends related to violent crime and community strengths
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent and reduce violent crime
  • Collaborate with state and local agencies, community-based organizations, and law enforcement agencies to share data and best practices
  • Write reports and presentations to describe research findings and recommendations
  • Evaluate state and community-based violence intervention programs and policies
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as criminology, sociology, or public policy
  • 5+ years of experience in research analysis, data analysis, or a related field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with data analysis software, such as Excel or SPSS
  • Knowledge of juvenile justice, criminal justice, or victim services programs
  • Experience with performance measure creation and tracking
