Job Overview:

The objective of this role is to offer assistance for research and community-focused initiatives carried out within the multidisciplinary pediatric obesity treatment and research facility in the Department of Pediatrics at the Healthy Lifestyle Center.

Ideal candidates will act as a community-focused research and program support specialist for initiatives related to the Center and grant-funded research protocols aimed at examining pediatric obesity prevention and treatment.

Responsibilities will include aiding in the recruitment and retention processes for community-focused research; organizing and facilitating meetings for community advisory boards; providing insights on research and literature concerning pediatric obesity and health; as well as data collection and analysis.

This role will also involve translating community needs into actionable programmatic initiatives and grant objectives. In these capacities, the research assistant will collaborate with fellow research personnel within the Center.

This position will report to the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator and Center Co-Directors, and will work closely with other research assistants in the Center.

This role is dependent on grant funding.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. required, preferably in a health-related field.
  • Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) certification.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of pediatric obesity and fundamental research principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively engage with external organizations, such as educational institutions and community groups.
  • Capability to read, interpret, and apply complex regulations, policies, and requirements for each assigned study.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Comfortable working in a diverse environment.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including evenings, weekends, and early mornings as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in behavioral science, nutrition, or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting family-oriented research.
  • Experience with pediatric obesity in clinical and/or research settings.
  • Proficiency in using Excel, SPSS, and REDCap.
