Overview:
The Program Management Office (PMO) at Zoox plays a crucial role in orchestrating cross-departmental program planning and execution at the highest standards.

We collaborate with leaders across various sectors of the organization, including vehicle development, system architecture, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business functions, to achieve significant corporate milestones leading to our launch and future endeavors.

Our program managers are integral to the comprehensive success of technical and integrated product milestones across both of our vehicle platforms - the Toyota Highlander test fleet and Zoox's custom-designed robotaxi.

Role Responsibilities:
As the Senior Technical Program Manager for AI & Autonomy within the PMO, you will leverage your extensive program management expertise and cross-functional leadership skills to oversee strategic planning and execution of technical and integrated product milestones for our vehicle platforms.

Your focus will be on initiatives aimed at enhancing our autonomous driving system metrics and capabilities, refining data collection operations, improving validation methodologies, and advancing data infrastructure, ultimately enabling our robotaxi to effectively serve riders in an expanding operational design domain.

Key Duties:

  • Collaborate with a diverse array of department heads to convert overarching corporate strategies and milestones into precise technical roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Influence critical decisions by working cross-functionally across engineering, product, operations, and strategy to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Establish standardized reporting mechanisms to deliver clear and effective communications to key stakeholders regarding program status, challenges, and achievements.
  • Define and create new key performance indicators (KPIs) and other evaluation methods to accurately measure progress towards objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of program goals with business objectives; foster and maintain momentum among cross-functional TPMs and workstreams to ensure timely and targeted delivery.
  • Maintain a robust technical understanding of our vehicle platforms, software lifecycle, safety clearance processes, and testing operations.

Qualifications:
• BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in engineering, program management, or management consulting with a focus on product launches.
• Proven success in steering complex software/hardware integration processes and leading intricate cross-functional programs from inception to completion.
• Ability to lead through uncertainty and empower teams to excel in such environments.
• Proficient in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.).
• Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create visual representations of KPIs and program risks.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, testing platforms, simulation, and automotive or aerospace processes is highly valued.
• Experience in developing and scaling strategies, processes, plans, procedures, reporting, and managing escalations.

Compensation:
This position offers a comprehensive compensation package, including salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this role is $180,000 to $265,000, with potential sign-on bonuses included. Compensation may vary based on geographic location and level, determined by factors such as relevant experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
