About the Role

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our facility patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pool Operations: Maintain schedules for aquatics staff, ensure compliance with all programs, and adhere to applicable certification standards.
  • Program Development: Develop and maintain all aquatic programming and initiatives, create and maintain program calendars and schedules.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Ensure day-to-day compliance with all programs, maintain pool cleanliness, and report any mechanical needs to Branch Executive and/or support services.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train staff in proper emergency policies and procedures through regular in-services.
  • Customer Service: Address questions and concerns of YMCA members with exceptional service and ensure adequate follow through in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate degree in public administration, exercise science, or related field, or high school diploma and 1+ years of aquatics experience.
  • Certifications: Current lifeguard certification, Certified Pool Operator (within 6 months of hire), Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and Oxygen (02) Training, and First Aid/CPR training within 30 days of hire.
  • Skills: Proficient computer skills, effective problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, and strong organizational skills.
  • Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience: Experience in aquatics leadership role, current YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, ASHI Instructor, and/or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer Certification.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physical Demands: Walk, sit, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, swim, and climb.
  • Work Environment: Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
