Position Summary

The Project Survey Management Specialist is dedicated to overseeing the management of surveying initiatives, personnel, and client relationships. Candidates for this role must exhibit a solid background in land surveying, project oversight, and effective leadership, along with exceptional client interaction capabilities.

This role entails full responsibility for the successful execution of assigned surveying projects. Key responsibilities include managing project budgets, adhering to timelines, addressing client requirements, coordinating with field teams and CAD technicians, conducting research, and ensuring the delivery of all survey-related documentation. The Project Survey Management Specialist will also oversee the quality assurance and quality control processes associated with surveys, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards.

Mentorship of field teams and CAD technicians is a crucial aspect of this position, fostering professional growth and development in project management. The individual will be expected to cultivate strong management skills, both within the organization and in public interactions. Continuous learning from senior survey leaders will be encouraged to enhance management capabilities related to projects, personnel, and client relations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution is required.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in a surveying firm, with at least three years in a supervisory role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Survey Crew Chief and CAD Technician.
  • Assist in the collection of field data as required.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver exceptional survey services.
  • Analyze and propose solutions for field-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Manage client expectations regarding project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Track project progress and performance across the survey team.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring effective management of clients, staff, and resources.
  • Prepare and review invoices for client billing.
  • Mentor junior survey department staff.
  • Prepare ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
  • Engage in business development to enhance the company's visibility in the community.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Manage QA/QC reviews for all surveys prior to client submission.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the survey team.
  • Make informed decisions regarding survey methodologies and solutions.

Desired Skills

  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying Exam (FS).
  • Progress towards Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certification.
  • Understanding of project proposals, including scope, budget, and scheduling.
  • Ability to collaborate with external consultants, including civil engineers and architects.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in client engagement and business development.
  • Experience in conducting QA/QC reviews on surveys.
  • Capability to assign tasks to CAD technicians and field crews.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive surveys across various project types.
  • Experience in reviewing and providing feedback on surveys and related documents.
