Position Summary

The Project Manager for Survey Operations is dedicated to overseeing the management of surveying projects, personnel, and client relationships. Candidates for this role must exhibit expertise in land surveying, project oversight, and leadership, along with exceptional client interaction skills.

This role entails full responsibility for the successful execution of assigned surveying projects. Key responsibilities include managing project budgets, adhering to timelines, addressing client requirements, coordinating with field teams and CAD technicians, conducting research, and ensuring the delivery of all survey-related outputs. The Project Manager will also oversee the quality assurance and quality control processes for surveys and associated documentation, ensuring that resources are effectively utilized to meet client expectations.

The Project Manager is expected to mentor field teams and CAD technicians, particularly in project management practices. They will showcase strong leadership capabilities both within the organization and in public interactions. Continuous mentorship from Survey Team Leaders will be sought to enhance skills in project, employee, and client management.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution is required.

Experience: A minimum of three years in a management role within a surveying firm is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties associated with a Survey Crew Chief and CAD Technician.
  • Assist in gathering field data as required.
  • Directly liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure high-quality survey outcomes.
  • Identify and propose solutions for challenges encountered in the field.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Manage client expectations regarding project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Track project progress and performance across the survey team.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring effective management of clients, employees, and resources.
  • Prepare and review invoices for client billing.
  • Guide and mentor survey department staff.
  • Conduct ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
  • Engage in business development to enhance the firm's visibility and client base.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Effectively present survey findings to engineering teams.
  • Ensure thorough QA/QC reviews of all surveys prior to client submission.
  • Assign project tasks and provide clear guidance to the survey team.
  • Offer informed judgment on survey-related decisions.

Desired Skills

  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying Exam (FS).
  • Progress towards Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certification.
