Position: Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Location: Catholic Diocese Of Fort Worth

General Summary: This role is essential for ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and repair of church and educational facilities. The Maintenance Technician will engage in a variety of tasks related to facility and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities may include performing routine maintenance and repairs, such as basic carpentry and plumbing, based on individual skill levels and team requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various installation, repair, and renovation projects for buildings, including electrical fixtures and semi-skilled construction tasks.
  • Handle the installation, repair, and renovation of equipment, which may include appliances, plumbing fixtures, and heating and cooling systems.
  • Facilitate the movement and transportation of furniture and other items across facilities.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs of work orders and reports detailing time and materials utilized for projects.
  • Oversee the care of tools, vehicles, and other equipment.
  • Perform painting and touch-up work as necessary to complete repairs.
  • Replace defective motors and valves as needed.
  • Clear snow and ice from pathways and parking areas to ensure safety.

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

  • Assess whether a project should be assigned to an external vendor or handled by in-house maintenance staff.
  • Advise on the acquisition or rental of essential equipment for project completion.
  • Evaluate if a task can be managed by one individual or requires additional team members.

Supervision:

  • This position operates under the direct supervision of the Department Director.

Internal Collaborations:

  • Engage with the Parish Pastor, Director of Maintenance, Chief of Staff, School Leadership, and other staff members.

External Collaborations:

  • Coordinate with vendors and maintenance personnel from other parishes within the Diocese.

Working Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a typical maintenance shop setting, with tasks performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical demands include frequent sitting, bending, lifting, and other movements. Candidates should be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Travel:

  • Minimal travel is expected, approximately 1-3 times annually.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Experience of one to three years is required, while four to seven years is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Capability to perform minor repairs and contribute to planning for larger maintenance projects.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify ongoing maintenance needs and preventive measures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies, including safe usage and storage practices.
