Job Overview:

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Site HSE Manager in the formulation and execution of the HSE management framework. This position is integral to the HSE management system, ensuring adherence to both Regional and Global HSE Standards while cultivating a proactive HSE culture. The specialist is responsible for engaging associates and driving continuous enhancements in compliance and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a consistent state of compliance with HSE standards set by the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of HSE standards applicable to the site.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous waste to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement site-specific HSE programs to establish best practices.
  • Provide training and coaching to site associates to ensure a clear understanding of HSE expectations.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of HSE incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Serve as a technical resource alongside the site HSE Manager, offering expertise in safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety through effective awareness and incentive programs.
  • Lead the site emergency response team (ERT) in preparedness for HSE emergencies.
  • Assess and enhance Industrial Hygiene Risk, including ergonomics and exposure monitoring.
  • Manage various HSE systems and programs, ensuring compliance and risk reduction.
  • Oversee contractor safety programs to mitigate risks associated with external activities.
  • Support site security measures to align with corporate standards.
  • Engage with third-party risk control experts to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Participate in audits to maintain favorable insurance ratings.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required to meet site needs.
  • Manage the internal audit program and contribute to site initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an EHS-related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications (GSP, ASP, CSP) are advantageous.
  • Ability to interact effectively with management and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT) is required.
  • 1-5 years of experience in safety and environmental program management is necessary.
  • Basic understanding of food manufacturing processes is desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership in HSE program management is essential.
  • Experience in hazard recognition and job hazard analysis is preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in computer systems is beneficial.
