Position Overview

We are seeking a Construction Technician to support the execution and management of construction initiatives, with a particular emphasis on tailings basin development and environmental compliance. This position entails providing on-site assistance, technical support, and ensuring that all construction activities meet established standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the construction and upkeep of tailings basins, including site preparation, earthworks, and structural installations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of tailings basin construction to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
  • Gather and document data related to tailings basin performance, including soil stability, drainage systems, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of tailings basin infrastructure to guarantee ongoing stability and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards throughout construction activities.
  • Perform environmental site inspections to monitor adherence to protective measures and evaluate potential impacts.
  • Assist in preparing environmental reports and documentation necessary for regulatory compliance and project approvals.
  • Implement and advocate for best practices aimed at minimizing environmental impact during construction operations.
  • Provide on-site technical support for construction activities, including equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure efficient and effective completion of construction projects.
  • Monitor construction quality to ensure that work aligns with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment on-site.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction, with a focus on tailings basin management and environmental compliance preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in the use of construction tools and equipment.
  • Excellent observational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Education
  • Associate's degree or diploma in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
  • This role involves a combination of fieldwork and office responsibilities. Daily fieldwork will expose you to various weather conditions, while office duties will require time spent at a desk using a laptop and phone.
