Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Support Specialist to ensure the smooth operation of our organization's network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Performance Monitoring: Use tools and software to track network performance and detect issues such as bottlenecks or outages.
  • Regular Maintenance: Perform routine checks and updates to ensure network hardware and software are functioning optimally.
  • Problem Diagnosis: Identify and troubleshoot network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and hardware malfunctions.
  • Issue Resolution: Implement solutions to resolve network problems, including reconfiguring devices or applying patches and updates.
  • Network Device Configuration: Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware according to organizational requirements.
  • Network Changes: Implement changes to the network configuration as needed, such as expanding capacity or integrating new technologies.
  • Security Measures: Apply and manage network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Security Monitoring: Keep an eye on security alerts and logs to detect and respond to potential threats.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and incidents.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions for management and other stakeholders.
  • User Support: Provide technical support to end-users experiencing network-related issues.
  • User Training: Offer guidance and training to users on network policies and best practices.
  • Upgrade Planning: Assist in planning and executing network upgrades and expansions.
  • New Implementation: Support the deployment of new network solutions, including hardware and software installations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT professionals, including system administrators, security experts, and help desk staff, to address and resolve network issues.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with network equipment vendors and service providers for support and procurement.
  • Policies and Standards: Ensure network operations adhere to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Best Practices: Implement best practices for network management and security to maintain a reliable and secure network environment.
Requirements
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
  • LAN and WAN Experience: Knowledge of LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies.
  • Hardware and Software Proficiency: Proficiency with routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Network Cabling and Troubleshooting: Experience with network cabling and physical hardware troubleshooting.
  • Operating System Familiarity: Familiarity with various operating systems, including Windows Server Family OS.
  • Network Configuration and Management: Experience with network configuration and management in these environments.
  • Diagnostic Tools: Ability to use diagnostic tools such as ping, traceroute, and network analyzers.
  • Network Security: Knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption.
  • Scripting Skills: Basic scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating tasks and processes.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical users.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Clear documentation and reporting skills.
  • Customer Focus: Strong focus on providing excellent support and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Patience and empathy when dealing with users experiencing technical difficulties.
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA are preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in both mining and plant environments, including exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Physical Tasks: Capability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, inspecting equipment, and navigating uneven terrain.
