Job Summary

GAS Global is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environment Health and Safety Specialist to lead and implement safety policies in a heavy construction environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction safety management, strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, and excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Implement Safety Policies: Develop and implement project-specific safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Manage Safety Programs: Administer safety programs on field construction projects to verify operations are executed as planned and conducted in a safe manner.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Manage compliance with applicable Local, State, and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, and identify potential hazards and recommend corrective action to prevent accidents and illness.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate incidents, conduct and obtain witness statements, prepare appropriate reports, and implement Return to Work policy.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with project management, employees, and clients to ensure a safe and productive work environment, and collaborate with the project management team to develop practices to prevent future work stoppage situations.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Ensure that all safety-related activities are conducted in accordance with GAS Global's quality assurance and quality control policies and procedures.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Compile and submit reports on safety performance, including near miss, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigation reports.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management, and MSHA 48 Trainer Certificate, Board of Certified Safety Professionals, and OSHA 10-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course or OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course.
  • Experience: 7 years of experience in construction safety management, general industry safety, or construction management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Familiarity with Zero Injury techniques of Construction Industry Institute, experienced knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry Regulations, and proficiency in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
  • Overtime: Overtime is anticipated for this role.
