Position Overview

Volant Partners, Inc is in search of a Lead Systems Architect who possesses a robust background in systems engineering and technical expertise to support our clients in the design and implementation of their products and hardware. The responsibilities of this role will be diverse, with the selected individual contributing to areas such as overseeing new product HLSR, as well as requirement modification and verification tasks.
Ideal candidates will leverage their extensive knowledge in systems engineering, complemented by exceptional organizational skills, to effectively manage complex projects and deliver results. We seek proactive decision-makers who thrive in dynamic environments where success hinges on swiftly grasping client challenges and addressing them efficiently.
This role demands outstanding communication abilities (written, verbal, and presentation) to engage effectively with various engineering disciplines, project teams, and client leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft technical specifications
  • Conduct requirement elicitation and decomposition
  • Manage requirement allocation and tracking
  • Oversee hardware integration and verification processes
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, electrical, computer science, or a related technical field
  • A minimum of 5+ years of engineering or consulting experience
  • A consultative approach with strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to collaborate directly with multidisciplinary client teams to resolve issues and advance objectives
  • Demonstrated systems engineering and problem-solving capabilities in a collaborative team setting
  • Proven ability to manage time and resources effectively to meet deadlines
  • Capability to define high-level requirements and comprehend their implications on lower-level software specifications
  • Experience in requirement verification activities and drafting test plans for product development and qualification
  • Decisive and able to execute plans effectively
  • Familiarity with requirements development, management, and traceability
  • General understanding of other engineering disciplines and their relationship to systems engineering
  • Experience in developing and decomposing system and subsystem requirements
  • Ability to build trust with clients and influence leadership and key technical personnel
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships, fostering a collaborative environment in a diverse workplace
  • Willingness to be onsite at client facilities as necessary
  • Must be a U.S. Person - U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated industries such as defense or aerospace
  • Background in a consulting or engineering services environment
  • Technical education or experience in space vehicle engineering disciplines is advantageous
  • Familiarity with the product development life cycle
  • Experience with industry-leading requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS Classic/DNG, JAMA)
  • Proficiency in using Confluence and JIRA
  • Knowledge of AS 9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Understanding of Configuration Management principles

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is currently $131,000 to $164,000 based on market data. Actual compensation will be determined by the successful candidate's work location, qualifications, skills, and experience. As an employee-owned company, total compensation includes Stock Options and eligibility for various bonus programs. Our comprehensive benefits package includes 401k matching, medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, and a significant company contribution to an HSA account. Employees are entitled to 15 days of paid vacation and 10 days of paid sick leave annually, along with 12+ paid holidays throughout the year.
