Role Overview
We are in search of a highly skilled and dynamic System Architect to spearhead and guide the technical designs and strategic roadmaps of our systems. This position involves overseeing and evaluating critical architectural and implementation trade-offs, such as power efficiency and performance within thermally constrained environments. You will analyze silicon, data flows, and establish requirements, necessitating strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation abilities, along with a comfort in navigating uncertainties. Collaborating with fellow engineers, you will promote the best standards, methodologies, and practices in systems development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Break down user-facing features, experiences, and functions into relevant enabling technologies and modules.
  2. Outline available architectural alternatives, assess engineering trade-offs, and present recommendations to achieve product objectives.
  3. Collaborate across functions to comprehend the existing portfolio of modules and technologies, derive capabilities and cost functions, and develop a comprehensive end-to-end product solution.
  4. Facilitate cross-functional alignment through technical discussions, negotiations, and executive reviews.
  5. Define and document system-level feature descriptions and detailed functional requirements.
  6. Guide product features through the entire product life cycle, from concept to release.
  7. Review, influence, and challenge architectural trade-offs using data and innovative ideas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in consumer electronics or related fields.
  • Extensive experience with systems that involve complex interactions among sensors, actuators/displays, hardware, and software with strict performance and latency requirements.
  • Clear and effective communication style, comfortable discussing intricate details while adept at presenting high-level messages to executives and cross-functional partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in SoC architecture, low-power design, hardware/software interfaces, bus protocols, and wireless communication.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software interactions, operating systems, workload estimation, and thermal and power management in modern SoCs.
  • Prior experience with PCB technologies, signal integrity considerations, and co-existence/desense mitigation.
  • Experience with complex systems involving motion sensing, computer vision, and sensor fusion.
  • Familiarity with various display technologies (LCD, OLED, LBS) and related optical systems.
Additional Information

At Apple, base compensation is just one aspect of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you develop in your role. The base pay range for this position is between $197,400 and $296,300, with actual compensation depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, product discounts, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses related to career advancement at Apple. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
