Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Systems Architect, you will be responsible for the following:
Electrical and Control Systems Development:
- Identify, select, and implement sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position detection, pressure measurement, or electronic communication.
- Produce, review, and maintain electrical design documentation, including schematic diagrams and layout files.
- Diagnose and resolve electromechanical challenges using standard tools such as DMMs and oscilloscopes.
- Engage in hands-on tasks as necessary.
- Design architecture and software for embedded systems, HMIs, and peripheral devices.
- Understand, develop, and troubleshoot low-level software routines and overarching software architectures.
- Conduct application programming on specialized platforms relevant to automation and robotics.
Mechanical Engineering:
- Research, design, assess, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, systems, and processes to fulfill specifications, applying engineering principles.
- Create basic drawings and possess the ability to prototype for proof-of-concept validation.
- Collaborate closely with in-house machinists to ensure timely completion and accurate fabrication of engineering designs.
Commissioning:
- Oversee system setup and commissioning of products for deployment at client sites or within the company’s workshop.
- Conduct on-site installations, system setups, troubleshooting, and limited repairs both on-site and in the office.
- Generate documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to guide others in the fabrication, construction, assembly, modification, maintenance, or usage of devices, parts, equipment, or structures.
- Provide direct support via phone and email for new and complex applications.
- Act as a liaison with clients to address issues and inquiries.
- Deliver on-site and in-office training for operators and maintenance personnel.
Project Management and Documentation:
- Develop project plans, establish goals/target specifications, and define KPIs.
- Ensure quality execution, speed of iteration, decision-making quality, and result quality of projects.
- Lead projects and provide technical leadership, effectively delegating tasks and managing complex assignments within project teams.
- Manage external projects and teams as necessary.
- Engage with external entities in areas pertinent to the company, leveraging existing capabilities of outside firms, experts, and institutions to benefit projects.
- A minimum of seven years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, five years with a Master's degree, or three years with a PhD.
- The ability to work independently to determine methods and procedures for new or specialized assignments, serving as a role model for junior engineers and providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Proficiency in the following platforms: Windows 7 desktop and Linux embedded systems.
Machine Shop Tool Proficiency:
Experience with tools such as drill presses, lathes, sanders, and band saws.
- The capability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering development team (electrical, software, mechanical, systems engineering).
- Experience in embedded system development, including circuit board design and troubleshooting, commercial microprocessor platforms and architectures (e.g., ARM), and memory management.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and optionally .NET C#, JavaScript, JSON, with the ability to understand, develop, and debug low-level software routines and system-wide software architectures.
- Experience troubleshooting electromechanical issues, identifying likely faults across mechanical, electrical, or software domains.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical design tools such as Solidworks, Catia, Altium, etc.
- Experience conducting safety risk assessments, identifying risks, and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of PLCs and safety controllers, particularly Siemens products.
- Understanding of system-level architecture, including functional analysis, block diagrams, and network diagrams.
