About the Organization: Chicago Artists Coalition is dedicated to connecting individuals with various opportunities, including artist calls, employment, grants, and art consulting.
Position Overview: The Riverside Arts Center is in search of a visionary leader who is deeply passionate about the arts and recognizes the transformative impact of art within communities.
The next leader of RAC will be responsible for fostering community engagement and further establishing RAC as a premier arts institution in the area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Public Relations (10%): Collaborate with the RAC Board to formulate, execute, and monitor the strategic plan while promoting a progressive mindset throughout the organization.
- Act as the face of RAC, articulating its mission to various stakeholders, including community members, artists, educators, families, sponsors, volunteers, and the media.
- Manage all external communications and partnerships; serve as the spokesperson for media engagements and public speaking events.
Ensure effective financial oversight of RAC, which includes setting salaries, preparing annual budgets, managing expenditures, and coordinating financial reporting with the organization's bookkeeper.
Work alongside the Development Committee to devise and implement RAC's annual fundraising initiatives, which encompass grant writing, corporate sponsorships, individual contributions, and special events.
Engage with individual donors to secure contributions; nurture relationships with donors throughout the giving process, ensuring they receive timely updates and personalized appreciation.
Exhibitions & Educational Programs (15%): Collaborate with the School Manager to define educational goals and strategies for art education targeting youth, families, and adults.
Partner with the Gallery Director to deliver exceptional curatorial experiences in RAC's various exhibition spaces.
Build and sustain relationships with community leaders, peer organizations, and cultural institutions to enhance exhibition and educational offerings.
Establish a system for tracking program data and assessing impact.
Operations & Human Resources (20%): Oversee and support the staff involved in exhibitions, education, volunteer coordination, fundraising, and special events; directly manage leadership team members.
Provide staff with opportunities for professional growth, regular feedback, and performance evaluations.
Supervise facility management, including studio and event rentals, as well as building upkeep.
Address legal and risk management concerns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Facilitate the effective use of technology and systems, including RAC's donor management software.
Board Relations (15%): Report to the RAC Board on various aspects such as exhibitions, education, fundraising, financial health, facility management, personnel matters, and strategic planning.
Serve as an ex-officio member on committees as appropriate, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Maintain strong relationships with Board members and leaders on the Executive Committee.
Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of Board members as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of senior executive or management experience in nonprofit organizations.
- Experience in a cultural or arts environment, with knowledge of art, curation, and educational practices.
- Proven success in fundraising and working with donors, foundations, sponsors, and government funding sources.
- Strategic planning skills with the ability to communicate a clear vision.
- Strong management and organizational abilities in leading teams and volunteers.
- Emotional intelligence and leadership skills that foster a culture of trust and respect.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with community members.
- Experience working with diverse groups and stakeholders across a wide network.
- Proficiency in financial management, including budget oversight and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with the Chicagoland area and its western suburbs is advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range: $45,000 to $50,000. This is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week, with a combination of in-person and remote work. The position may involve occasional evening and weekend commitments. Benefits include 15 days of flexible paid time off and 8 paid holidays annually.
Health insurance stipend: A fixed, taxable allowance to purchase an individual health plan.
