POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Shift Leader plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating all warehouse operations during the assigned shift. This position requires adherence to all Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The Warehouse Shift Leader directly reports to the Warehouse Manager for guidance and performance evaluation, ensuring compliance with Balchem Corporation's quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate forklifts following established safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Manage inventory control using D365; accurately interpret lot numbers and scales; ensure all documentation is completed timely and in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace by fulfilling assigned cleaning duties and adhering to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Observe and enforce safety and security protocols, taking appropriate actions beyond standard guidelines and reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with SECS standards; promptly report any deviations in scheduling or service quality to the Manager.
  • Communicate any breaches of Balchem work ethics and standards to the Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Achieve proficiency in production and safety policies and procedures, including accident reporting, emergency evacuation, and equipment operation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred qualifications include an associate degree; however, a High School Diploma or GED is acceptable. Six to twelve months of relevant experience or training is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in computer systems is required, with a preference for experience in warehouse inventory management systems such as MRP/ERP.
  • Strong motivation, organizational skills, time management, and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively are necessary.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethics, including punctuality, dependability, and trustworthiness, are required.
  • Ability to apply common sense and skills in fulfilling job responsibilities and operating equipment in accordance with company procedures is essential.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence, as well as write basic correspondence, is necessary.
  • Must be able to pass any required examinations necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to effectively present information in small group settings and handle conflicts professionally is required.
  • Willingness to give and receive feedback, contributing to a positive team environment, is essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for handling, talking, and hearing, with specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 pounds is required.
  • Occasionally required to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds, utilizing safe lifting techniques and equipment.
  • May operate various equipment, including computers and scientific measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors is necessary.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment policies is mandatory for all personnel in the plant.
  • May be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and extreme temperatures.
  • Periodic work in high or precarious places, with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions may occur.
