POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Shift Leader plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating all warehouse operations during the assigned shift. This position requires a thorough understanding of and compliance with all Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The Warehouse Shift Leader will report directly to the Warehouse Manager for guidance, interpretation, and evaluation, ensuring adherence to Balchem Corporation's quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate forklifts following operational guidelines, including safety protocols.
  • Manage inventory control using D365; accurately interpret lot numbers and scales; ensure all documentation is completed timely and meets company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by fulfilling assigned cleaning duties and adhering to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Observe safety and security protocols, take appropriate actions beyond standard guidelines, and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor product quality to comply with SECS standards; notify the Manager of any scheduling or quality deviations that could pose risks.
  • Report any breaches of Balchem's work ethics and standards to the Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Achieve proficiency in production and safety policies and procedures, including accident reporting, emergency protocols, and equipment operation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred qualifications include an associate degree; however, a High School Diploma or GED is acceptable, along with six to twelve months of relevant experience or training.
  • Proficiency in computer systems is essential, preferably with experience in warehouse inventory management systems like MRP/ERP.
  • Strong motivation, organizational skills, time management, documentation, and communication abilities (both verbal and written) are required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the capacity to multitask and prioritize effectively are necessary.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethics, including punctuality, dependability, and trustworthiness, are essential.
  • Ability to apply common sense and skills in fulfilling responsibilities and operating equipment in accordance with company procedures is required.
  • Competence in reading and understanding simple instructions and correspondence is necessary.
  • Must be able to pass any required examinations to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in small group settings and manage conflicts professionally is required.
  • Willingness to give and receive feedback and contribute to a positive team environment is essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for handling, talking, and hearing, with specific vision abilities including close and distance vision.
  • May need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, using proper ergonomic techniques, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift weights exceeding 50 and 100 pounds, utilizing safe lifting techniques and equipment.
  • Must operate various equipment, including computers and scientific measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors is necessary.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment policies is mandatory for all employees.
  • Employees may occasionally work in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in extreme temperatures or noise levels.
