POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Shift Leader is tasked with overseeing and coordinating all warehouse operations during the assigned shift. This role requires a thorough understanding of and compliance with all Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager for guidance and evaluation, ensuring adherence to Balchem Corporation's quality and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate forklifts in accordance with operational guidelines, emphasizing safety procedures.
- Manage inventory control using D365; comprehend lot numbers and scales; ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace by fulfilling assigned cleaning duties and adhering to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Monitor safety and security protocols, taking appropriate actions beyond standard guidelines and reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Ensure product quality meets SECS standards; notify the Manager of any scheduling or quality deviations that may pose a risk.
- Report any breaches of Balchem's work ethics and standards to the Manager.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance.
- Achieve proficiency in production and safety policies and procedures, including accident reporting, emergency protocols, and equipment operation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred qualifications include an associate degree; however, a High School Diploma or GED is acceptable, along with six to twelve months of relevant experience or training.
- Proficiency in computer systems is essential, preferably with experience in warehouse inventory management systems.
- Strong motivation, organizational skills, time management, and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively are essential.
- Demonstrated strong work ethics, including punctuality, dependability, and trustworthiness, are necessary.
- Ability to apply common sense and skills in completing responsibilities and operating equipment in line with company procedures is needed.
- Capability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence is required.
- Must be able to pass any necessary examinations to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to present information effectively in small group settings and manage conflicts professionally is necessary.
- Willingness to provide and receive feedback, contributing to a positive team environment is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Continuous standing, walking, and use of hands for handling and feeling, along with effective communication abilities, are required.
- Regularly required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds, using proper ergonomic techniques.
- Occasionally required to lift weights exceeding 50 and 100 pounds, employing safe lifting techniques.
- Operation of various equipment, including computers and scientific measuring devices, is necessary.
- Ability to distinguish colors is required.
- Compliance with personal protective equipment policies is mandatory for all employees.
- Potential exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and extreme temperatures may occur.
- Occasional work in precarious locations, exposure to airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions may be required.
