Position Overview:

The Patient Registration Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Patient Access department, ensuring smooth and efficient registration processes for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately input and update patient demographic data.
  • Facilitate patient registration and manage necessary documentation.
  • Collect upfront payments from patients as required.
  • Guide patients and their paperwork to the designated preoperative area.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. Proficiency in operating office equipment is essential, along with a typing speed of at least forty-five (45) words per minute.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Patient Interaction:

Welcome patients promptly upon arrival for hospital admission, introducing yourself and your role. Collect and verify insurance details, explaining co-payments and deductibles clearly.

Administrative Duties:
  • Process registration information with courtesy and efficiency.
  • Distribute and clarify hospital information, brochures, and forms.
  • Ensure that all necessary patient signatures are obtained on consent and insurance documents.
Collaboration:

Support hospital and departmental policies while collaborating effectively with other departments and staff members. Maintain professionalism in all communications and interactions.

Equipment and Supplies:

Utilize necessary equipment and supplies responsibly, reporting any required repairs promptly. Ensure skills are up-to-date for all equipment used in the registration process.

Additional Responsibilities:

Provide backup support for the receptionist and radiology scheduler as needed. Utilize Meditech for patient registration, payment collection, and necessary statistical reviews.

Reporting:

Promptly notify supervisors or directors of any issues that arise during the registration process.
