Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8AM - 5PM

JOB OVERVIEW

The Patient Services Specialist plays a crucial role in providing entry-level intake and administrative support for patients receiving care. Responsibilities include gathering demographic, insurance, and medical details; processing co-pays and deposits; scheduling follow-up appointments; and coordinating diagnostic tests as instructed.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts interviews with patients to collect necessary demographic and insurance information for medical record identification and billing processes.
  • Enters patient registration data into the computer system and ensures the accuracy of the information.
  • Delivers precise patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients and discusses financial arrangements with them and/or their family members.
  • Facilitates the flow of patients and information by directing patients to appropriate locations, arranging transportation, answering incoming calls, and providing clerical assistance.
  • Prepares necessary forms and maintains an inventory of supplies as required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all essential duties of the position competently, with or without reasonable accommodation, while maintaining a commitment to effective customer service and teamwork.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of patient registration processes and documentation.
  • Familiarity with medical insurance claims procedures and documentation.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to gather patient demographic information and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Must enroll in the PSS training program and successfully complete the competency exam to retain the PSS position.
