Position Summary:
At Vail Resorts, exceptional service is at the core of our mission, and our Ski Patrol team plays a crucial role in delivering this unforgettable experience. Tasked with ensuring the safety and security of both staff and guests on the mountain, Ski Patrol members are vigilant and reliable professionals dedicated to promoting safety while maintaining composure during emergencies.
Position Specifications:
- Expected Compensation: $23.26 per hour
- Availability: Full-Time
- Required Certifications: WFR, EMT
- Required Ski Proficiency: Expert
- Expert level skiing only
- Additional Details: Patrol members perform various tasks across diverse terrains and weather conditions. Candidates must successfully complete an expert-level ski patrol assessment upon hiring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure guest safety across diverse terrains and changing winter weather conditions.
- Assist injured or ill guests on the mountain and provide first aid.
- Safely transport injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or assist with airlift operations.
- Maintain trails, including identifying hazards and implementing closures and safety measures.
- Transport supplies and heavy equipment to necessary locations using skis or snowboards.
- Conduct end-of-day procedures to ensure all guests are safely off the mountain.
- Enforce the Skier Responsibility Code and Resort Policies.
- Facilitate chairlift and guest evacuations.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- Successfully pass the resort's Ski Patrol sponsored ski assessment.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years.
- Exceptional guest service skills are essential.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions in a mountainous environment.
- Must pass a federal background check to handle explosives.
Union Statement:
The terms and conditions of this position are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The anticipated pay range is $23.26. This is the expected compensation for this role, with individual salary decisions based on various factors.
