Role Overview: As a Product Development Manager, you will oversee projects with minimal supervision, while receiving guidance from the Head of Product Development and Senior Project Managers. Your role will involve coordinating activities throughout the development phase until customer approval, ensuring timely delivery to production that meets budgetary and quality standards.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit leadership and decision-making skills in executing product development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, monitor budgets, and facilitate communication among project resources and stakeholders, aligning with corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate activities from design through pilot tooling to production, ensuring accountability for molds, machinery, and packaging components.
  • Identify customer requirements and convert them into actionable plans.
  • Manage project planning, including Gantt charts and scheduling constraints, while addressing bottlenecks and collaborating with team members to devise solutions.
  • Prioritize projects effectively and communicate updates to key stakeholders.
  • Apply knowledge of project management methodologies and stage-gate processes.
  • Oversee project loads with a focus on time management.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, or requests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular meetings to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Facilitate design activities between customers and internal teams.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and vendors to ascertain project requirements and coordinate activities.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate project documentation using established forms and procedures.
  • Ensure project costs are managed effectively.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and legal requirements.
  • Travel is expected, averaging 30% of the time.

While performing the duties of this position:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience, ideally within the plastics sector.

Skills Required:

  • Technical knowledge of HDPE, PP, and PET resins.
  • Understanding of mold design and construction.
  • Familiarity with blow molding principles and machinery.
  • Ability to apply and assess SPC/statistics/Quality charts/Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of bottle performance features and closure seals.
  • Understanding of customer filling lines and distribution.
  • Experience in conducting dimensional and functional evaluations of packaging systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting packaging system issues.
