Role Overview:
The Product Development Manager will oversee projects with minimal supervision, receiving guidance from the Head of Product Development and Senior Project Managers. This role is crucial in coordinating activities throughout the development phase until customer approval, ensuring timely delivery to production while adhering to budgetary and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit leadership and decision-making skills in executing product development initiatives. Develop and maintain project timelines, monitor budgets, and communicate effectively with project resources and stakeholders, aligning with corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate activities from design to pilot tooling, production molding, and into full-scale production, ensuring responsibility for molds, machinery, and packaging components.
  • Identify customer requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Manage project planning, including Gantt charts and scheduling, while addressing bottlenecks and collaborating with team members to devise solutions.
  • Prioritize projects effectively and communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Apply knowledge of project management methodologies and stage-gate processes.
  • Oversee project loads with effective time management.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, or requests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular meetings to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Facilitate design activities between customers and internal design teams.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and vendors to ascertain project requirements and coordinate activities.
  • Document essential project information using established procedures.
  • Maintain project costs effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal requirements.
  • Travel may be required, averaging 30% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include:
  • Regularly standing, walking, reaching, and occasionally climbing or balancing.
  • Frequently using hands for handling, feeling, and performing tasks; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and communicating verbally.
  • Occasionally sitting.
  • Regularly lifting or moving up to 10 lbs, frequently lifting or moving up to 30 lbs, and occasionally lifting or moving more than 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience, ideally within the plastics sector.
Skills:
  • Technical knowledge of HDPE, PP, and PET resins.
  • Understanding of mold and design construction.
  • Familiarity with blow molding principles and machinery.
  • Ability to apply and assess SPC/statistics/Quality charts/Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of bottle testing and conducting dimensional and functional evaluations.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting packaging system issues.
