The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes.
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities to prevent downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts.
- Ability to operate pallet stretch-wrapping machines.
- Ability to operate cardboard baling machines.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience working in a maintenance capacity.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions, to deal with problems from various situations.
- Mathematics Ability: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide 10's and 100's by 2, 3, 4, and 5, perform the four basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar, and perform operations with units such as inch, foot, yard, ounce, and pound.
- Language Ability: Ability to print (to inscribe by whatever means) simple sentences, series of numbers, names, and addresses. Also, includes the ability to communicate in simple sentences.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to warehousing.
- Knowledge and skill in hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal.
- Physical activities may occasionally include: remaining in stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 15 pounds in all directions.
- Physical activities may constantly include: communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The worker is subject to a variety of environmental conditions, both inside and out.
- The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from weather.
- The worker is subject to extreme cold - temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of over one hour.
- The worker is subject to extreme heat - temperatures in excess of 100 degrees for periods of over one hour.
- The worker is subject to noise - sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the surrounding noise level.
- The worker is subject to vibration - exposure to oscillation movement of the extremities of the whole body.
- The worker is subject to hazards. This category includes, but is not limited to, close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, elevated working surfaces, exposure to heat, and exposure to chemicals (airborne and/or skin exposure).
- The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions - one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
