Job Title: Immunotherapy Administration Specialist

Department: Allergy Services

Reports To: Office Manager and Allergy Services Lead

Availability: 7:15 AM - 6:45 PM, Monday to Friday

POSITION SUMMARY

The Immunotherapy Administration Specialist is responsible for delivering allergy injections to patients receiving immunotherapy treatments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Welcome patients in a timely, courteous, and supportive manner.
  2. Administer allergy injections in accordance with established protocols and document in the allergy management software.
  3. Notify the supervisor through the clinical module if patients experience issues (two or more localized reactions) following their injections.
  4. Restock supplies in the injection room at the conclusion of each day.
  5. Replace red bags and sharps containers as necessary.
  6. Alert the supervisor when additional supplies (syringes, sharps containers, alcohol, etc.) are required.
  7. When patients request serum refills, verify inquiries and document the last appointment with the physician and insurance type. If a referral is necessary, inform the Lead.
  8. Verify new serum by activating vials in the allergy management software.
  9. Review patient serum in use to identify and remove expired bottles. For serum that has been prepared but not vial tested, compile a list for the supervisor and discard expired bottles. Complete the expired serum form and contact patients for reordering.
  10. Manage incoming calls to the allergy clinic and check voicemail messages daily.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Administer Xolair (if trained and assigned a schedule).
  • Conduct Allergy Testing (if trained and assigned a schedule).
  • Adhere to documentation requirements for Meaningful Use.
  • Assist with scheduling.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Capability to perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

REASONING SKILLS

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Ability to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, frequently required to communicate verbally and audibly, and regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
