Residential Care Team Member

Position Summary:

The Residential Care Team Member at Freedom House Ministries is accountable to the Residential Care Manager. This role demands a dedicated individual with strong leadership capabilities. The individual will excel in providing custodial care, which includes overseeing, guiding, and maintaining discipline among adolescents residing at Freedom House. The candidate will exhibit the ability to foster spiritual development, gently correct behaviors, organize recreational activities, and instruct on personal hygiene and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Exemplifies a Christ-centered lifestyle in all forms of communication, behavior, worship, and service.
  2. Regularly references the House Staff manual for defined responsibilities and training protocols.
  3. Supervises residents as they undertake household tasks, providing guidance as necessary.
  4. Instructs and collaborates with residents on fundamental life skills, including cooking, laundry, organization, time management, and other daily activities.
  5. Compassionately nurtures the spiritual, emotional, and physical development of the residents.
  6. Demonstrates a commitment to spending quality time with the residents.
  7. Offers a listening ear and an empathetic heart for each resident, informed by an understanding of their individual histories.
  8. Completes daily shift documentation.
  9. Administers medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  10. Addresses behavioral issues with love and ensures follow-through on disciplinary actions during shifts.
  11. Participates in monthly staff meetings and training sessions.
  12. Engages in discipleship by providing loving guidance, prayer, and clarity regarding program rules, utilizing every opportunity to impart practical life lessons that support residents in their healing journeys.

  • Understanding of mental health challenges faced by adolescents.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Encouraging and supportive demeanor.
  • Genuine passion for assisting others.
  • Compassionate approach towards individuals with challenging backgrounds.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years. Preference for male staff for new program initiatives.
  • High School diploma or GED required; some college education in human services or a related field is preferred. Various shifts available, particularly evenings, weekends, and overnight awake shifts. Part-time, flexible hours, with compensation ranging from $15 to $17 per hour, based on qualifications.
