Group Leader - Nationwide

Working Hours: 08.30 – 17:30

Compensation: £412.00 – £559.17 weekly salary based on age, experience, and qualifications.

Accountable to: Senior Camp Team, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals, expecting all personnel to share this commitment.

GROUP LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an engaging base room environment that is welcoming for children while ensuring cleanliness and proper storage of equipment.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for the children in your care.
  • Follow the prepared activity schedule daily to deliver the diverse range of sessions promised.
  • Collaborate with the broader staff team to facilitate activity sessions.
  • Ensure the needs of the children are met through active supervision and attention throughout the day, including during breaks and lunch.
  • Utilize available resources to plan and execute a variety of structured and enthusiastic activities that are age-appropriate for the scheduled group.
  • Encourage maximum engagement from the children in your group.
  • Build rapport with the children, understanding their interests and incorporating these into their camp experience.
  • Take responsibility for the overall welfare and safeguarding of the children.
  • Ensure the safe usage of equipment provided for your sessions and ensure proper storage after use.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience or qualifications in working with children.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the start of the contract.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, and organization with excellent communication skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively manage unpredictable challenges within the childcare environment.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete annual Online Training.
  • Participate in an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season.
  • Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure the company meets all Health and Safety obligations by diligently following instructions and maintaining a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Organize and deliver activities appropriate for the children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications and skills.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities, ensuring the activity program aligns with the timetable.
  • Maintain a safe environment for the children under your supervision, being aware of their whereabouts and respecting them as individuals.
  • Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety protocols, and guidelines on best practices in child welfare.
  • Serve as a positive role model by promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Management Team or the Designated Person at Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of children in your group who may have additional requirements.
  • Depending on staff availability, you may be asked to deliver Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to assist with swimming sessions.
  • This list is not exhaustive, and you may be expected to perform various tasks as required by your evolving role within the organization.
