Your Role

The Lead Safety Operations Supervisor will play a pivotal role in supporting both the Project Team and the Clayco safety division to ensure adherence to corporate safety and health protocols, in alignment with Federal, State, and Local regulations. In addition to your project-specific duties, you will engage in and complete all assigned tasks. This includes fostering a culture of zero injuries on each project, conducting regular documented safety inspections of the jobsite, effectively communicating safety orientations for all new personnel, reviewing subcontractor daily safety analyses, actively promoting and participating in daily safety initiatives, identifying safety trends, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents. You will also support corporate safety goals, encourage proactive reporting of near misses and hazards, coach workers on safe practices, and ensure timely reporting of incidents according to established protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formulation of the project safety program.
  • Conduct jobsite orientations for new employees, ensuring proper documentation and identification issuance.
  • Participate in initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to clarify roles within the safety program.
  • Organize and document pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to set safety procedures prior to their activities on site.
  • Manage field tasks on projects valued up to $80M.
  • Engage with clients effectively.
  • Support the Site Safety Manager.
  • Facilitate regular safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project staff to ensure compliance.
  • Provide training for site personnel, ensuring adherence to OSHA and Clayco standards.
  • Maintain a log of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet or exceed project requirements.
  • Ensure subcontractors designate a trained safety representative with the authority to address safety issues.
  • Conduct daily and weekly jobsite inspections, completing safety checklists and noting violations and corrective actions.
  • Document and report any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate rectification.
  • Take immediate action to halt any unsafe acts or practices.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing fire prevention and evacuation procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain all required safety records.
  • Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and attend project staff meetings to discuss safety matters.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 6-12 years of safety experience or a combination of education and experience in construction, with a solid understanding of safety/environmental principles.
  • A minimum of 5 years of field experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction accreditation is required.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer certification is advantageous.
  • Physical ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Specific vision capabilities including close vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work at heights and inspect scaffolding and roof areas.
  • Comfortable working in moderate to very loud noise environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
