Compensation:
Salary range: $115,000 - $140,000 annually

Role Overview:


We are in search of a skilled and proactive Permanent Controller specializing in Multifamily Property Accounting. This pivotal role involves managing all accounting functions, financial reporting, and budgeting for a diverse portfolio of multifamily properties.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and strategic professional who excels in a dynamic environment.


Key Responsibilities:
As the Permanent Controller, your primary duties will include:
  • Managing all accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Overseeing the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Generating and distributing timely monthly financial statements.
  • Ensuring the integrity of financial transactions and reporting.
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax obligations.
  • Coordinating with external auditors for the annual audit process.
  • Collaborating with management to facilitate informed economic and business decisions.
  • Monitoring debt levels and adherence to debt covenants.
  • Working closely with property managers and corporate leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Controller - Multifamily Property Accounting position will possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; an MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the finance sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing accounting functions for multifamily properties.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and conducting financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and administration.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with the capability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting and make critical decisions under pressure.
