Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:


We are looking for a skilled and proactive Permanent Controller specializing in Multifamily Property Accounting.

The successful candidate will oversee all financial operations, reporting, and budgeting for a diverse portfolio of multifamily properties.

This pivotal role is integral to our financial operations and is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels in a dynamic environment.


  • Manage all accounting functions for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory management, and revenue recognition.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Generate and distribute timely monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax obligations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process.
  • Collaborate with management to facilitate informed economic and business decisions.
  • Monitor debt levels and adherence to debt covenants.
  • Work closely with property managers and corporate leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Controller - Multifamily Property Accounting position will have the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. An MBA or CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the finance sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting functions for multifamily properties.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and conducting financial reporting.
  • Proficient in accounting software and administration.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the capability to gather, organize, analyze, and disseminate substantial amounts of information with precision.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a talent for motivating and guiding a team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure.
