We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Thermal Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Thermal Integrated Product Team (Thermal IPT), you will play a critical role in the development of spacecraft thermal control systems for our Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.
Key Responsibilities- Thermal Systems Engineering: Develop and manage thermal specifications and requirements, including interface control documents and models, in collaboration with adjacent IPTs.
- Requirements Management: Decompose system and subsystem-level requirements into lower-level requirements, and perform traceability analysis to ensure accurate and complete requirements.
- Thermal Point of Contact: Serve as the thermal point of contact for inputs to vehicle system safety products and risk management, and mentor early-career thermal systems engineers on the lunar program.
- Standardization and Verification: Standardize thermal systems engineering approaches, and own the verification and validation of thermal requirements in collaboration with thermal test engineers.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Lead trade studies across the thermal IPT and with other IPTs, and serve as the thermal point-of-contact for other IPTs.
- Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Experience: 8 years of relevant thermal engineering or systems engineering experience on space missions.
- Skills: Strong understanding of heat transfer fundamentals in space environments, systems engineering fundamentals, and aerospace hardware verification and validation processes.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Education: M.S. or Ph.D. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Experience: 12 years of relevant thermal engineering or systems engineering experience on space missions.
- Skills: Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware, semi-passive devices, and NASA systems engineering processes and standards.
