ROLE MISSION

The Lead Engineer in Battery Materials will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and is tasked with spearheading and fostering technological excellence, positioning ADVANO at the cutting edge of innovation in the battery materials and energy storage sector, particularly in enhancing REALSi technologies.

The primary objective of this role is to innovate and refine carbon scaffolds for the integration of silicon materials, aligning with the strategic business goals of the organization.

As a vital team member, you will oversee the development of these carbon scaffolds. Your duties will encompass identifying and procuring new or alternative carbon precursors to optimize silicon performance. Furthermore, you will collaborate with external partners to secure essential material supplies for product advancement.

Extensive expertise in carbon material formation and characterization, coupled with a profound understanding of polymer and organic chemistry principles, is crucial.

Together, we aspire to redefine the future of energy storage, delivering sustainable and impactful solutions that meet the evolving demands of our world and establishing ADVANO as a leader in the rapidly changing landscape of silicon anode technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

An advanced degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the active anode or battery sector, is essential.

Proficiency in carbon material formation and characterization, with a focus on developing carbon scaffolds to accommodate silicon materials.
A solid grasp of polymer and organic chemistry concepts.
Demonstrated laboratory skills, including experimental design and execution.
Familiarity with battery material synthesis and characterization methodologies.

Skilled in evaluating electrode performances and identifying correlations with materials and process parameters, taking independent initiatives to enhance processes to achieve target performance metrics.

A comprehensive understanding of battery materials, interfaces, electrolytes, and electrochemistry to advance the mechanistic understanding of battery performance.
Adept at interpreting analytical and electrochemical cell test data to establish relationships between processes and properties.
An innovative thinker who is creative, adaptable, and capable of constructively challenging established business paradigms.

A broad knowledge of silicon anode materials and applications, ideally with a global perspective to effectively engage within an international marketplace with diverse internal drivers for change.

A strong ability to influence technical and business teams and reach consensus on decisions made.
Market insight and expertise in silicon material applications in lithium-ion batteries.
Proven interpersonal skills and successful collaboration demonstrated at all organizational levels.

A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, actively listen, and incorporate ideas into improved solutions to ensure the achievement of company and functional objectives.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise delivery of messages to align the organization.
