Job Overview

The Patient Services Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing specialized functions associated with the management and execution of patient dietary requirements within healthcare facilities. This position serves as a vital link between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide Patient Services Workers during meal operations, ensuring timely delivery of food items as per physician or dietitian orders. Engage with patients to familiarize them with the Food and Nutrition Services offered.
  • Gather and document food preferences and aversions from patients and their families to enhance service quality.
  • Effectively communicate patient dietary needs to the relevant teams within the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
  • Ensure that patients receive appropriate menu options aligned with their nutritional care orders.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation by adhering to established cleaning protocols and completing assigned sanitation tasks.
  • Lead, mentor, and support Patient Services Workers in their responsibilities, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct inventory checks and restock supplies in pantries, refrigerators, and freezers within designated units.
  • Keep accurate temperature logs for unit refrigeration and freezing equipment.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of therapeutic diets and provide supervisory assistance in case of discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure that all patients' fundamental nutritional care requirements are met.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Patient Services Supervisor is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational capabilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in English is required; bilingual skills are advantageous but not mandatory.

This position may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and prolonged periods of walking and standing. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
