Role Impact

As a Senior Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage your expertise and collaborate with a diverse team of professionals worldwide. Your contributions will include:
  • Designing mechanical systems such as HVAC, building automation, industrial ventilation, process piping, plumbing, and central utilities for 3M facilities.
  • Working with a cross-functional team to define project scope during initial phases.
  • Managing project timelines and budgets effectively.
  • Engaging with multi-disciplinary teams, including plant personnel, consultants, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Communicating clearly with project teams, facility staff, and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and internal policies.
  • Overseeing design work performed by consultants for assigned projects.
Qualifications and Skills

To ensure your success in this role, 3M requires the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (verified prior to start).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical system design for industrial facilities in various sectors.
Additional qualifications that may enhance your success include:
  • Over seven (7) years of experience in mechanical system design for industrial facilities, including HVAC and utility systems.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Strong project management skills for developing timelines and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic tools for design and communication.
  • A collaborative mindset, capable of contributing in a matrix environment.
Travel Requirements: Up to 20% domestic travel may be necessary.

Relocation Assistance: May be available.

Legal Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Responsibilities may involve access to information and systems subject to U.S. Export Control Laws.

Compensation Overview:

The expected compensation range for this position is $115,607 - $141,298, which includes base pay and potential variable incentive pay. This range is a good faith estimate and may vary based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
