We are currently seeking a Director, Community Affairs Business Partner (CABP) who will be pivotal in shaping our Community Affairs strategy and ensuring its effective implementation across our Public Affairs framework to enhance growth and profitability at Vail Resorts. This role emphasizes collaboration with resort leadership to execute business strategies, leveraging external insights and organizational data to address local or regional priorities in a scalable, enterprise-wide manner.

The CABP will forge partnerships across the Public Affairs sector to provide valuable services to leadership that align with the organization's business objectives. This position requires a strong understanding of the business unit's financial health, strategic direction, culture, and competitive landscape, which will serve as the foundation for our community engagement initiatives.

This role resides within the Public Affairs Department and reports to the VP of Community and Government Affairs, focusing on public affairs at the community level across various regions. The business partner will engage directly with mountain resort leadership to facilitate outreach efforts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Public Affairs strategies to meet business priorities within resort communities, including advocacy and management of special projects.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local communities in alignment with our Community & Government Affairs strategy.
  • Analyze external trends and community engagement efforts in collaboration with resort leadership to align on integrated Public Affairs solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of key stakeholder and policy developments, providing strategic recommendations on issues impacting the Company.
  • Represent Vail Resorts in external engagements.
  • Collaborate with various departments within Vail Resorts.
  • Work closely with the Public Affairs Department, including Public Relations, Environmental & Social Responsibility, and Government Affairs teams.
  • Support resort leadership in their external engagement and business objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between Public Affairs and Vail Resorts business units, effectively communicating priorities and emerging issues to facilitate collaborative decision-making.
  • Oversee the Community Analyst role and manage the operating budget for the Community & Government Affairs team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 6-12 years of relevant work experience, preferably in government affairs, regulatory entities, intergovernmental associations, or NGOs, or from a business background in Marketing, Communications, Strategy, or Operations.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and simplify complex issues.
  • Experience in developing integrated strategies and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior executives to inspire confidence and influence decisions.
  • Passion for community service, team leadership, and creating value in a safe and inclusive environment.
